Ikigai is a Japanese concept of finding true purpose in life. Being inspired by my father, who is a philanthropist and a hardworking doctor himself, I developed an interest in medicine at a very young age. With growing years, I developed a passion towards congenital cardiothoracic surgery, which continues to develop with every passing year and the challenges faced. I am currently working as a clinical fellow at GOSH, London in the department of cardiothoracic surgery after training at other centres in Canada and UK. I did most of my basic training from Bangalore, India. Training at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher medical sciences, which works on the principle of 'Free Healthcare and Education to all' further motivated me to aspire to be a better humanitarian. Healthcare in developing countries such as India, is unfortunately not accessible to all due to various challenges leading to death of many children, who are otherwise treatable. I am grateful to be a part of this mission which has given me an opportunity to help those in need. 'I alone cannot change the world. But, I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples' - Mother Teresa.
